As promised, here is "Tailing the mark"

Also known as following,

trailing,

keeping a safe distance,

keeping an eye on,

spying,

tailing the mark.

But what does it have to do with anything? I don't know, ask the deep, dark subconscious. At least it's not about autumn or winter. Or cake for that matter. Tailing the cake.
