May 3

Yesterday was the shakedown Pleasant Mountain hike.

The black flies haven't discovered their mouthparts yet, and were just beginning to swarm, not bite.  The trees have no leaves and it's easy to see everything.  The trail is marked nicely in some places and

not so well in others.  Required, but forgotten items included backpack, bandana, bug spray, sun screen, cheese and chocolate covered peanuts.  The trekking poes still had their ski baskets attached. But the view of Mount Washington on top was marvy, shared with five others on a beautiful day.
