Signs

The loons have been vocal in the hours before dawn. They are gathering together in larger groups, talking about their trip to the ocean.
I saw my first wooly bear caterpillar of the season on the trail, a little one, divided in thirds with equal amounts of black on either end of a brown center. That foretells some kind of winter, but can't remember what kind. Research indicates a mild to average winter to come, given the appearance of that one wooly bear.
Right now it is perfect weather for an airplane ride to the seaplane base for fuel.
