The Ladies' Path

The undercast dissipated by the time of arrival at the parking lot.
It wasn't an original thought, this hike, judging by the number of cars filling the lot.
I avoided the Chemin des Dames, the Ladies' Path, on the climb. I had taken that route up to Adams just two months prior. It is a steep and scary path.
Lunch at the Madison Hut was not as scrumptious as the breakfast at Chutes.
Above treeline the way becomes rocky, the ridgeline a knife edge.
There were two men already on the summit of Mt. Madison, 5367 feet. One of them snapped my photo sitting by the benchmark while the other one distracted me with conversation.
