August 2

I think it was 15 years ago we met Lisa May, our adopted daughter, on a raft trip in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. She will be 30 today. Wherever you are, Lisa May, happy birthday, and happy rafting. "You dance with the river and she leads."

For some reason I took up tying friendship bracelets on the last hike. I suspect it's 10 years behind the times. Nevertheless, it's about the same delay of time buying a CD player, 10 years after the fact. High altitude plays a funny role in tying knots. Lack of oxygen and all...



There are a few other things that became embedded in the oxygen-deprived psyche.
