August 5

The main part of a weaving may be a repetitive pattern with just a few selected colors, maybe two or three. It's in the border that the real fun begins. A border can be composed of swirls, or boxes, or chevrons or little men and women.

It takes effort to make the border and the central pattern meld together and still be both beautiful and interesting.
Tantra is the weaving and reweaving of energy to make a beautiful and interesting pattern, and, as my teacher says, "to be useful". I told my neighbor, over martinis yesterday, "There's a thin line between being helpful and interfering." What does that have to do with being useful or with weaving?
